Texas DPS Certification Course

Service Description

This Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) certification course trains and assesses educators to carry defensive handguns on school campuses. We deliver DPS-approved training for school districts and teachers. Over the state-required two days of instruction, participants engage in real-world scenarios and evaluations. The four core topics mandated by the Texas DPS are: • Protection of Students • Interaction of license holders with first responders • Tactics for denying an intruder entry into a classroom or school facility • Methods for increasing a license holder's accuracy with a handgun while under duress Upon successful completion, participants receive a Texas DPS Proof of Training Form. Completed courses are filed with the Texas Department of Public Safety as part of the License to Carry requirements under Texas Government Code 411.1901.
